Newly updated
and expanded for 2009, this map includes the
highest and most scenic section of the Blue Ridge Parkway
- the 65 mile loop south from Asheville, NC, running west towards
Cherokee, NC. The majority of the riding is through serpentine
mountain roads that climb to the highest
elevations in the National Forests. Enjoy long
range views and winding roads along rushing streams on some
of the most scenic rides in western North
and South Carolina.
THIS
IS THE MAP if you're looking for
ROADSIDE WATERFALLS! I've included a guide to nearly
a dozen waterfalls, most of which can be viewed from the road or
reached via a very short walk. It includes the
highest waterfall east of the Rockies, as well as the most
popular and some that are well kept secrets.
Much of the riding is
through the wilds of the Pisgah National Forest,
the Nantahala National Forest, and Sumter National Forest.
Enjoy the contrast of rugged mountain passes and rural valley farms
with numerous wild creeks and branches as you roll through the always
spectacular countryside. However, before taking the trip, it would
be better if you have an updated car
insurance that will cover possible damages that your vehicle
may acquire along the trip. Many roadside points of interest are
included which make this one of the most rewarding
and enjoyable series of rides to be found in the Blue Ridge
Mountains.
